Well that was a fun filled few weeks.... as hinted at in the last entry, my parents came across as part of a vacation tour.
Experiencing the very best of Southern
Customs they managed to visit more states (possibly) than I’ve done in 5
years, even more impressive my mum managed to understand almost 25% of
the words said to her!
I collected them from IAD on the
Tuesday and took them to collect Ryan, he didn’t know they were coming
so his reaction when he saw them at his class window was one of shock,
he was happy though especially as Grandad drew him a cartoon picture
every day on his magna-doodle, of course Ryan being a thug saw the
pictures barely last 30 secs before they were erased.
Potential plans for more expansive
plans were sort of put on hold as Jessica first came down with a bad
cough, later diagnosed as Bronchitis and Ryan was equally snotty. The
parents couldn’t really handle the pace so made use of the washing
machine and wifi to read the latest book or fantasy stories from the
Daily Mail.
We did manage to scramble out on the
Saturday to go down to the Joe Gibbs fair, Ryan had a fun time on the
bouncy castles and making piles with trucks in the corn pit - it’s like a
sand pit but with corn obviously! A couple of trips out including to
Otani for an anniversary special (not ours, theirs! 43 years.... less
for murder as they liked to say and I’m not sure who won out of that
deal - probably they both deserve each other!!!)
After we kicked them back home to
enjoy the house to ourselves the illnesses continued and Ryan had a
disrupted week with little school time, the Wednesday in particular was
highlighted by him coming in off the playground having worked up quite a
sweat. What convinced the teachers to give him milk, which he chugged,
followed by oranges with the inevitable technicolor yawn that resulted
is a mystery to me. Oddly he managed to be fine for Cookie Friday,
surely a coincidence!
Just also want to take this
opportunity to give hugs & a shout out to Jessica, the past few
weeks have been quite tough with things mentioned here & others that
are not, at the forefront of our minds. She’s a brave girl, not only
for being with me, but for dealing with all the crap that is coming her
way. Hugs always!
Till next time.
J,J&R.
